Daddy: I actually liked a lot more of the film than I didn't like. It was Star Wars informed by Game Of Thrones, Harry Potter and Battlestar Galactica. All the Luke Skywalker stuff was great.

Daddy: Surprisingly good. Laugh out loud funny, genuinely charming and plenty of lovely ideas. Hugh Grant steals the show. In every sense.

Lily (aged 10): "My favourite bit was at the end when all the Lego people were rubbing the cat."

Daddy: Some funny lines and a couple of nice ideas (especially Meowthra), but not quite the same level as The Lego Movie or Lego Batman.

Despicable Me 3

Lily (aged 10): "I loved it, it was cool. I liked when Agnes found the unicorn but it was really a goat."

Daddy: It wandered a lot, especially in the middle. A couple of funny minion set pieces, but it didn't really hang together as a story.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid:The Long Haul

Lily (aged 9): "I loved it, it was funny. It was funny because you didn't expect the funny things that happened. Like, I didn't expect Manny to start speaking Spanish."

Daddy: Very broad humour, couple of above average gags. But all in all, about the same as watching two hours of CBBC.

Lily (aged 9): "My favourite bit was at the start when Baby Groot was dancing to Mr Blue Sky during the battle."

Daddy: It was all over the place - and I loved every silly direction it headed off in. Not a great film. But I can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching one as much.

Lily (aged 9): "Oh my goodness, the pooch chair was adorable..."

Daddy: Nice enough to watch but adds absolutely nothing to the traditionally animated version. No different to the rest of them, this Belle.

The Lego Batman Movie

Lily (aged 9): "That was so funny. I didn't expect what was going to happen. It's probably one of my favourite films of all time."
Daddy: Actually a surprisingly good satire on the whole Batman universe whilst having its own story. Tons of in-jokes for hardcore Batfans and a load of funny stuff that anyone can enjoy.

Sing

Lily (aged 9): "It was so funny. All of it, the songs."

Daddy: Charming and funny. Enjoyable but not quite as sharp as something like Moana. The end performance was particularly heartwarming and almost a mini movie in itself.

Daddy: Absolutely charming from start to finish, with some great songs. Especially, as Lily points out, Jermaine Clement singing Shiny.
